Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our foundation, donations, and how we support the Milledgeville PD.

Donations

Are my donations tax-deductible?
Yes. The Friends of Milledgeville PD Law Enforcement Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are generally tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

LESS Crime Act

What is the LESS Crime Act?
The LESS Crime Act (SB361) is a Georgia state law that allows taxpayers to receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit for contributions to qualified law enforcement foundations. This means you can redirect your state tax liability to support the Milledgeville Police Department directly.

Oversight

How are the funds used?
All funds are managed by the Board of Directors and are used to support advanced officer training, wellness resources, technology upgrades, and community outreach. We focus on specialized needs that fall outside the city's standard budget.
